The fact that it took Cox Powertrain’s game-changing CXO300 diesel outboard 10 years to go from a concept on a drawing board, to full production, should be all the proof you need that this lightweight, high-performance, 300hp V8 engine is a quality product. When aiming for perfection, cutting corners isn’t an option.

So, following a decade of intensive, meticulous development and rigorous testing, the CXO300 has hit the marketplace with a fistful of proven performance figures which make it a highly persuasive proposition for the sport fishing sector. Conscious that certain potential clients might need a little coercion to wean them off the gasoline outboards they’ve relied upon for years, Cox is only too happy to flag up a list of side-by-side comparisons, as the findings invariably fall in the CXO300′s favor.

In order to comply with EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) requirements, the CXO300 had to pass stringent testing. Cox Powertrain designed the combustion system in such way to comply with environmental regulations and reduce emissions to ensure a clean burning engine.

Additionally, the V8 CXO300 has 480 ft.lb torque on tap, equating to 100% higher peak torque at the crankshaft than that produced by any of the leading 300hp gasoline outboards, and a still substantial 60% higher peak torque when set against 350hp gasoline outboards.

This helps the CXO300 to achieve fuel efficiency figures which are 25% better than those produced by comparable 300hp gasoline outboards, as the diesel’s effortless low-end torque enables it to power heavily-loaded hulls through choppy waters while placing fewer demands on the engine. For sport fishing enthusiasts, this win-win proportionality maximizes their fishing potential, giving them the ability to cover larger areas while also minimizing engine wear. It also means they have longer range, so they go further when fishing and maximize their time on the water before needing to refuel. On top of this, the overall experience is easier on the ear as the CXO300 is quieter and smoother at full throttle than gasoline peer products.

Another important consideration is that despite its uniquely innovative design principles, the CXO300 is easy to install or retrofit on a wide variety of vessels. Compatible with the NMEA 2000 communications standard and all Seastar EPS (Electronic Power Steering) products, the CXO300 also comes with the reassurance of a competitive warranty for both recreational and commercial users.
