31 Great Offshore Fishing Boats I Saw at the Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show

An unusual number of new fishing boats made the 2019 Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show particularly exciting. Here’s a roundup of some of those boats.

For whatever reason, this year’s fabulous Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show seemed to me to include an unprecedented number of new-boat introductions, at least in the size of the type that Sport Fishing fans would likely have an interest in. Many of the 31 boats shown here are either brand new at the show or new this year, though I couldn’t help including a couple of merely recent models. Except for each opening running shot, all photos were taken at the show. As should be evident, the boats are listed alphabetically (by manufacturer).

Boston Whaler 405 Conquest

Whaler markets its new 405 — the biggest Conquest yet, debuting in Fort Lauderdale — as “the SUV of the sea,” designed for long-distance cruising, comfortable overnighting and chasing bluewater gamefish. Designed for up to 1,600 hp, the 405 holds 600 gallons of fuel. Boston Whaler

Also new at Fort Lauderdale, Whaler’s 325 Conquest, offers many of the same features as the 405 in a smaller package, with a 32-foot, 3-inch LOA, a 10-foot, 8-inch beam and a 20-degree deadrise. It’s rated for up to 800 horses. Boston Whaler

Cabo 41

Cabo is back and now part of the Hatteras family, good news for fans of the Cabo brand from its heyday in earlier years. The 42-foot, 10-inch LOA hull achieved a top speed of just over 40 mph in a May 2019 Sport Fishing online review by Jim Hendricks, powered by twin 725 hp Volvo Penta D11 turbo diesels. Cabo

Cape Horn 32XS

The 32XS is based on a complete redesign of the original 32, which was previewed by Sport Fishing online in September 2017. The hull sports a deadrise of 23 degrees at the transom, weighs in at 5,400 pounds, and offers a horsepower maximum of 800. With only 600 horses, the boat topped out at 61.5 mph in factory testing. “LS” designates Carolina Skiff’s new liner series in which all components on the deck are molded into the design; the hull is bonded with the deck for a stiffer, stronger one-piece boat with a self-bailing deck. The 21 LS is rated for up to 150 hp. Carolina Skiff

Though the 44FA — built on the same hull as the popular 44ST — has amenities for great weekend cruising with a family, ultimately it’s designed by and for hardcore offshore anglers who want to get to the fishing grounds fast. Contender

Family fun with a fishing option in style could sum up Pursuit’s new dual console. With twin 300s (maximum horsepower), the 326 topped out at just under 50 mph in factory testing. Pursuit

In a recent online review, Sport Fishing‘s Chris Woodward said the Regulator 26XO is indeed an all-new crossover design with elements of bay boat and deep-V offshore boat, giving it nearly unrivaled fishing variety, plenty of family comforts and some surprising big-boat features. Regulator

The all-new flagship of South Carolina-based Sea Fox shows its sharp bow entry which leads to a transom deadrise of 23 degrees. The hull is made with infused lamination, and has an oversized foam-filled stringer with massive bonding points. The hull offers a limited lifetime warranty. Sea Fox

A new layout for the 322 offers more aft cockpit space and twin transom livewells at each corner. Capable of carrying 900 hp, even 600 horses pushed the 322 to 57 mph in factory tests. SeaVee

The twin-stepped, cross-ventilated hull features SeaVee’s patented SpeedRail technology: Multiple lifting bodies with unique geometry offer a fixed trim angle throughout a wider range of speeds. An optional 48-inch bow coffin box offers 210 quarts of insulated fishbox or dry storage — but leaves plenty of space on either side to walk or fish, or to access the 51-gallon stowage in-deck lockers on each side. Solace 345

There’s not much ordinary about the new Solace 345. In a Sport Fishing review (September 2019), Jim Hendricks describes it as “one of today’s most advanced center-console boat designs.” Including the unique FishThru transom, the 345’s LOA is 38 feet, though it has 34 feet of running surface. It’s rated for up to 900 hp; in SF testing, the boat topped out at 55 with twin Yamaha 425 XTOs. Solace Boats

Although not shown here, a fully outfitted second station is an option, as is a Seakeeper 3 gyro stabilizer. Twin bow loungers and padded seats atop the forward console promise comfortable seating for four upfront. Solace Boats

Perhaps the boat’s most striking innovation is the FishThru transom that extends between and beyond the outboards, above the waterline, putting anglers out in the open to hook or land fish. Solace Boats

Aft of the helm seating is an impressive workstation, featuring Corian countertop, cutting board, dual-basin sink with freshwater faucet and shower hose, electric grill, heavy-duty stainless-steel drawers and fridge/freezer. Solace Boats

Stamas’ new 33T Aventura, with its flared bow and a full 24 degrees of transom deadrise, is clearly intended to go offshore. And go far — with twin Suzuki 350s, at 31 mph, expect a range of 450 miles or so. At 6,000 rpm, in a Sport Fishing review, the boat ran slightly over 50 mph. Stamas

A surprisingly expansive space inside the console reveals a settee and triangular dining table (lowered, it becomes a forward berth), small galley with faux-marble countertop, electric cooktop, sink and freshwater faucet and fridge, flat-screen TV, plus an enclosed head/shower, and large windows port and starboard. The Wellcraft 402F shown at Fort Lauderdale was designated as a prototype, and no information was available as this gallery was written. But the photos here offer some idea of what will be a very impressive flagship for Wellcraft. Doug Olander / Sport Fishing
