The success of its WaveRunner jet-driven personal watercraft led Yamaha to apply the technology to larger boats. The result? Engines tucked within the hull, no props below the large swim/casting platform—plus thrilling rides.
Yamaha jet drives draw water through internally housed impellers and push it out to propel the boat, eliminating the need for an exposed drivetrain and getting on-plane quicker with less bow rise.
Yamaha sport boats, including fishing-focused FSH models, are built in Vonore, Tennessee. Yamaha innovations include the Drive dual paddle control for low-speed handling and docking, integrated WakeBoosters for wakesurfing, and an Advanced Responsible Handling package.
Yamaha 255 FSH Sport E
Yamaha’s new 255 FSH Sport E is a larger, more family-friendly center-console fishing machine—the big sibling to the FSH 190 and 210. At 25 feet, it’s Yamaha’s largest center-console ever, in fact.
The new boat boasts the ease and functionality of E-series fly-by-wire control. A pair of 1.8-liter supercharged Super Vortex High Output engines combine for 500 hp.
At the helm, information and control are both at hand through a 7-inch Connext display, 12-inch Simrad multifunction display, tilt-base steering wheel and bank of lighted switches.
The double helm seat’s contoured bolsters and footrest flip up. Standing is secure behind the helm and beneath the hardtop, thanks to handy contoured grab handles. The view forward is unobstructed and protected by a windshield.
Steps lead up to a bow platform handy for boarding, anchor-tending or fishing. The platform and fish box beneath it can be made into benches and a table. A curtain enclosure rising from within the compartment at console front can serve as a head or changing room.
Aft, anglers will approve of Yamaha’s distinctive multilevel transom, corner livewell, casting platform, and some of the more than two dozen spots for rods sprinkled throughout the boat.

Yamaha’s 255 FSH Sport E has one in the portside pod where it’s easier to access, and there’s an aquarium-style view window to keep an eye on the health of the live bait.
